Waterfront Design

We would like to welcome you to the website of the Community Waterfront Friends.

The Community Waterfront Friends (CWF) and the City of North Bay have joined scores of other communities worldwide taking part in an international trend in waterfront renewal projects.

We are tremendously excited about the commitment the Mayor and our City Council have made to this project and look forward to working with them on what we feel is an investment in the future of our community.

Not much to write about this week - next week we'll have some big news but for now I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving!  What are you thankful for?

The leaves are changing...

Hi everyone - I hope you are enjoying this mild weather... it seems to be confusing the plants as well as the people.  We never know how to dress in the morning - or if we should change half way through the day!  We're wearing gloves in the morning and then leaving our sweaters behind in the afternoon.  I'm not complaining though - it's my favourite time of year when the leaves change.

Speaking of leaves (he he), the Pergola leaves will be on display in the Discovery Centre (the Museum at the old CP Station) from November of this year until around May of next year.  I'll certainly update you when we have everything confirmed but we hope you will be able to make it to view the leaves and read the stories that make up our community.  Since the construction is ongoing in front of the Museum and we can't set a date to put the leaves on the pergola (and we're not so cruel as to have someone out there in January!), we've decided to wait until spring to officially open the pergola.  We'll keep you posted on that as well.  It's going to be so exciting!!

Not only will the pergola be opening but the majority of work on the Civic Plaza will be complete as well.  I believe they are preparing to put the bricks in any time now if they haven't started already.  What a great community gathering place!

I hope you are all enjoying the stories on  I've been posting them on our Facebook page as well and getting great response.  I'm guessing each of you know at least one person on there already - have you thought about who you would honour?

Get out there and enjoy the beautiful colours - it's quite a view from the top of the spiral mound!
